I write a brain injury article for this blog site every week because I hope that at least one person or one stressed caregiver who is living with the effects of brain injury will realize they are not alone and that there are compensatory strategies that can make life easier.
Articles, blogs or news stories that contain information about brain injury immediately catch my attention. I want to stay up to date on ways to make life easier and more enjoyable for victims of brain injury – especially since I live with one. Well, one day I saw a blog article that interested me. I clicked on it and began to read. I thought to myself – this sounds familiar – I wonder if I’ve read it somewhere before. Then I saw my name – AND – my picture. I immediately asked Larry if he had used my article on another site since we have several. When he said “no” we began to investigate.
This person in another country had “stolen” my article! These were MY words and MY thoughts! After I got over the shock, I decided I would view it from the perspective that at least more people would see the information and have the opportunity to receive some encouragement from what was written. My fear is that the person who stole my thoughts has the ability to alter them in her article and include information I don’t agree with while it appears that I wrote it. She completely copied this particular article and “pretended” to be me. That’s creepy! It would have been ok for her to use some of my information with her own opinions. She should not have “stolen” my thoughts.
Thanks for listening. I feel better now.
